A Hematology Analyzer is a medical laboratory device used to analyze blood samples and provide detailed information about the different components of blood. It is one of the most commonly used machines in clinical labs because it helps doctors quickly assess a patient’s overall health and detect a wide range of conditions.

What it Does:

  • A hematology analyzer performs a Complete Blood Count (CBC) and other related tests by measuring and counting:
  • Red Blood Cells (RBCs): Number, size, and hemoglobin content (helps detect anemia, polycythemia, etc.).
  • White Blood Cells (WBCs): Total count and sometimes differentiation into subtypes (important for detecting infections, immune disorders, or leukemia).
  • Platelets: Essential for clotting function (low levels may indicate bleeding risk, high levels may indicate clotting disorders).
  • Hemoglobin (Hb): Oxygen-carrying capacity of blood.
  • Hematocrit (HCT): Percentage of blood volume occupied by RBCs.
  • MCV, MCH, MCHC: Red cell indices that give insight into anemia types.
